For shadier lawns, we recommend Palmetto® St. Augustine. While no grass can thrive in total shade, research by Sod Solutions indicates that Palmetto® St. Augustine is one of the most shade tolerant grasses. St. Augustine makes a beautiful lawn when maintained properly, but St. Augustine is one of the more high-maintenance grasses.

Palmetto® St. Augustine is a quick growing grass, which helps to keep a lawn weed-free, but requires more mowing than Centipede (every 5 days during the growing season). When compared to other St. Augustine varieties Palmetto® St. Augustine is lower maintenance, recovers more rapidly from heavy use and injury, and demonstrates superior cold, frost, heat and drought tolerance.
